Frequently asked questions
14 answersWhat is Anchorfell?
Anchorfell is a medieval fantasy co-op survival game in development, with optional PvP extraction modes. Build a refuge with friends, explore fragments of a fractured timeline, and bring your discoveries home.
What do we do in our co-op world?
The direction is a private home region where your crew can gather, craft, build, explore, and prepare for expeditions. The first playtest targets solo through four-player co-op; individual features and availability are announced with each test.
How does character progression work?
Individual skills improve through use, rather than one overall character level. Equipment, preparation, and what you discover matter. Recipe unlocks and the final balance of skill benefits are still being developed.
What is a timeline expedition?
A corrupted crystal opens a temporary route into a lost fragment of the old kingdom. Your crew enters, recovers useful materials or artifacts, and extracts back to the refuge. Returning with your finds helps you prepare for the next run.
Do I have to play PvP?
The intended home experience is cooperative PvE. PvP belongs in optional contested expeditions, where rival crews enter the same fragment. The first playtest focuses on co-op; PvP availability will be announced separately.
How does combat work?
Third-person combat uses a shoulder camera and manual free aim for melee, bows, and magic. Anchorfell does not use a universal target lock or hidden target magnetism.
How can I join a playtest?
Create an Anchorfell account, then apply or redeem an invitation on My Account. You apply once to the shared tester pool. Net reviews applications, and your account shows your status and announced test windows. Applying does not guarantee approval.
When can I play, and how long does access last?
Each playtest has its own announced start and end time. All approved players share that window. Approval before the start shows as Upcoming, and access ends when the window closes. Check your account for the current dates.
Is there a game download available?
No public launcher or download is available yet. Installation instructions will be announced through official Anchorfell channels when a build is ready for a specific playtest.
Which platforms are being developed?
Development currently targets Windows PC. Final supported platforms and system requirements have not been announced.
Will my website and game account be the same?
Yes. Both use the same Anchorfell identity. Password entry, email verification, and recovery are handled securely by Amazon Cognito; the website keeps an encrypted server-managed session.
Can I cancel a playtest application?
Yes. Your account page includes a cancellation action. Cancelling also ends any invitation for that playtest. You can still sign in to your account and follow development.
Can I buy Anchorfell?
Retail purchases are not open yet, and the game price has not been announced. Current checkout work is limited to an operator-only payment sandbox. Sandbox transactions do not grant a game license or playtest access.
Do I need to buy the game to apply for a playtest?
No. You can apply to the tester pool without purchasing the game. Approved testers can play during announced test windows. Tester membership does not grant retail game ownership.
